Thieves 04:24
No I ain't got no need to slow my speed down No No I'm on a roll, in control of this bullet train Yeah yeah Just try and stop me now Try and do your worst My body's strong so move along No need to quench my thirst Can't quench my thirst I'm an animal, got instincts to tear through these walls Unstoppable, undeniable, coming for you I'm coming for you "In Seth's head, there were no thoughts or feelings- Only blank and motionless images of what was next in his day. Composing his breath and centering himself away from what had just happened, he sat and fiddled with the purse in his hands but made no attempt to look inside. Unemotional theft felt good to him- testing his meditative control and challenging his heartlessness. There was no one to share the ride with as the train trudged along the ridgid tracks towards E. 68 Station. Straight-faced and patient, the ride was sweetly brief..." I'm losing breath, losing life I'm losing breath, I'm losing sight I'm losing life I'm losing sight Loosing life

Sheltered 02:19
Oh I do not know why Your walls are built so high Sheltered from what's out there Could you let someone inside Your bleeding heart to fix The broken parts you choose to hide? Well I'll stay patient Out here knocking at your door Could you find the time to Give your love a chance To shine through all the shit Relax, sit back You'll be alright You'll be just fine Oooh baby, could you spend a little time? Realize you're fine Sit back, relax You'll be just fine You'll be alright
4.
Colors 03:32
I'll open my eyes To the bright, beautiful lights My sight's fixed upon you And your ever-changing shades Don't you ever change No, I can't explain Colors cast abound You're a kaleidascope making my mind explode Sight's fixed upon you And your ever-changing shades Don't you ever change No I can't explain
5.
Wind 03:24
Steady my hands as they fly across the room Take it away and make me feel so good Caus' all I want is all I need And all I taste is all I breathe And all I fear is all I see You take my head and spin it around Till it comes undone Go ahead just dance, dance Get loose, get crazy Feel the mighty flow of your body baby Don't stop, stop, stop, stop, now stop Let me hear you scream Caus' it's just a feeling you cannot stop Baby light the fire, let's keep it hot It's in your heart, down inside Sending shockwaves up your spine So loosen up and sing it loud You've got a voice so let it out Now lose yourself, let's lose ourselves Excuse yourself, you're out of control
6.
Crash 04:27
You've got your sun kissed skin And your wind blown hair You make me crazy Yeah you turn me on When you rise and shine With your sizzling skin Setting my body on fire Won't you burn me? Oh you are the sun in the sky Burning red hot On your coldest days Your ocean waves Take a toll on my aching soul Won't you drown me In your sea of love? Oh you are the waves to my sea Won't you crash down on me?
7.
Hold You 04:39
Yeah I've been thinking of the words To say when I make it back home After this back breaking day And we can find some lovely ways To take our agonies away The boss is only coming down hard I need your loving arms to wrap me up And help me disregard For now, it's only you and me Let's put the pains of today behind I'll show you every warm embrace And put a smile back on your perfect face Now sway with me Baby I won't do you no harm And let me take my sweet damn time Lay me down and wrap me up Know I'm all yours Caus' you'd best believe baby You're all mine For now, it's only you and me Let's put the pains of today behind I'll show you every warm embrace And put a smile back on your perfect face My feet are sore My body's worn And my eyes don't see straight anymore Whatever bit of strength I hold onto I'm giving it all to you I want to hold you I want to kiss you I want to feel you I want to hold you I wanna...

CLIMB CLIMB CLIMB CLIMB CLIMB CLIMB At last the climb is done By fear this world is overcome You tried to keep me down The warning signs you built Were never found Goodbye, my time is now Increased with speed My heart becomes Like birds in the sky And fish in the sea I'm telling you now I want to live free The heights I have scaled Are out of their reach It's time to let go Let it go, let go All the fears you own They can't hurt you anymore Will they take you over? They can't hurt you now "Taking one final grasp of the slippery rock face, he hoisted himself over the jagged top with what sliver of energy he had left. The current leading to the edge of the waterfall was gentil and calm as compared to what had just been overcome. And up here, it was so beautiful"

It's a feeling too amazing I cannot deny All in one breath Breathing out what's locked inside Where once I was abandoned Like a ship cast to the sea Here I stand reflecting on Your pure encompassing And one of there days you'll find All the hatred in this life will fade away Leaving everything that's good in You And one of these days All the hatred in this life will fade away We struggle to believe in all We can and cannot see Making what we can't An endless mystery And patience is the answer To the questions we may own And love is shown to those Who cannot show love in return And one of these days you'll find All the hatred in this life will fade away Leaving everything that's good in You And one of these days All the hatred in this life will fade away "I finally understand father, this beautiful life-filled masterpiece which you have created out of labor and unceasing gracious love for us. You see us only as unhindered and forgiven, and we thank you for your grace. I acknowledge the sacrafice you've made to straighten our paths and broaden our horizons. It's remarkable, the example of precious intimacy you feel for us, your children, and the pure encompassing guidance which surrounds each of us, especially when we fail to recognize you in our darkest hours"

Inner Peace 04:22
Oh how I dream to soar Far beyond the great horizon High above the endless mountains To a place I call my own To place I call home Home Where the land is a virtue I'll pray The Lord my soul to keep When I scream to the heavens I'll release my spirit free I'll release my spirit free If ye love me Grant my freedom Watch me as I bloom and blossom This is where I'm meant to be I've found my inner peace I've found my inner peace I've found my inner peace

Good Night 05:27
This canvas up above Has colors warm and So serene Only leaves scrape the sky Where winged beings Sing harmonies And you are all my friends And family With me since the moment The sun arrived Would you lay beside me Till we see the light? It's a good night Amity along an endless sea With creatures big and small Who too will arise When the morning arrives And you are all my friends And family With me since the moment The sun arrived Would you lay beside me Till we see the light It's a good night You are all my friends And you are all my family Together under one sun's sky Our destinies collide to intertwine You're in my heart Keep singing good night Good night

about

THE CANVAS is McDonnell's first solo conceptual artpiece and follows the dysfunctional yet faithfilled journey of Seth, who begins the story as a thieving criminal. As the album unfolds, Seth grows into his destiny more and more- experiencing freedom through travel, faith through strife, love through intimacy and trust, and thankfulness through humility. Throughout the story, Seth is loosing sight in his eyes and is trying to regain sight of what realy matters. There are many messages and textures to The Canvas, and the musical dynamic changes will provide audiences with a clear image of Seth's gradual awakening and perhaps, we, on our intertwining paths of life can too discover what is most important, and pursuit just that with a peaceful mindset always. The album features well respected musicians hailing from Pennsylvania to North Carolina and is a true collaboration piece- gaining an array of differing artistic styles both musically and visually. All songs and lyrics are written by Cole McDonnell.
(writing begins Aug 2011- production concludes June 2016)
